I think a lot of people living in today’s America think themselves, perhaps unknowingly so, enslaved to popular culture. Celebrity sinkholes of trends and useless buzz generation draw pointless attention, and people are complacent with such things. You need to realize that if you heard some gossip about a celebrity that you thought was interesting, you need to change something in your life. Useless people shouldn’t be interesting to you.

Personally, I think that’s why many people pirate music or movies, as a means to fight back against this indentured reality that we’ve become so passively adjusted to.
