@zachleat IMO a good way to think about it is that when you boost a post, it has the same effect as if you publish a post yourself. All your followers will see it, and it also will be seen in the local timeline of your server (that is only you in your case, ha).

I actually like that when you boost in Mastodon, your avatar is shown a bit smaller than the original poster but it clearly shows that you are the one giving it a boost. I think it is good for taking accountability of what we boost
