I have zero knowledge of what's happening at CSS-Tricks or what the future plan is.
I would seriously doubt they are going to turn off the site. There is no incentive for that. Even if they never publish anything again, it's still a good resource and lead generator. It would shock me if they re-sold it, but hey, I have no idea how big companies work.
