Image Ready v2—Developer Experience @ Eleventy

March 19, 2021 Watch in 22 minutes

This is a meetup talk given at Jamstack TORONTO about Eleventy Image. It was really fun to give a talk alongside the folks from Gatsby.js, Next.js, and Sanity folks to see how they handle images. I’m really proud of the featureset that Eleventy Image has and how it compares to the others.

This talk was also converted to blog post format at: Don’t Shut Down Your Business! Instead, use Eleventy Image.

Yeah same. I talked a bit about this at zachleat.com/web/image-read… @cramforce published a No-JS blur-up approach a few years back if you’re still shopping around! industrialempathy.com/posts/image-op…

We also put it into next/future/image so not every framework is doing this badly 😇

Great article. One note on lazy load, according to web.dev/lcp-lazy-loadi… it's probably better to restrict the lazy loading tip for images that are known to be below the fold, or at the very least not to be used on a LCP image (almanac.httparchive.org/en/2022/media#…)
