The Scoville Scale of Web Font Loading Opinions

May 16, 2019 Tagged: Speaking

Originally presented at Beyond Tellerrand in Düsseldorf, Germany 🇩🇪 in May, 2019.

This talk was a grab bag of personal font loading opinions that I’ve been collecting over quite some time to package up for a talk. David Carson said that it was a great talk but the kerning on a few of my slides was off 😎😱😇. I was so pleased that he took the time to attend—he was around for most of the conference!

This conference really was something special. Marc Thiele is an amazing conference organizer. His attention to detail and willingness to promote other things happening in the community is incredible. If you get the chance to attend one of Marc’s conferences, do it.

awe, you didn't actually cover the legibility of the text rendering nor animation fluidity. I was hoping you would as this is one of the areas we're looking at possibly investing further. Would you truly want the Edge behavior of show fonts first then swap? ...

I’m in talks with another provider(s) about this at the moment actually.
